Advanced Micro Nanosystems

From the advancement in research and development of the state of the Art Si-based nanoelectronics and nanophotonics, large area microelectronics and MEMS, and advance nanomaterials science and engineering, a variety of Si-based advanced micro&nanosystems can be designed and developed. This is the function of the GNS Advanced Micro&Nanosystems (AMNS). It currently has the following integrated systems being developed.

  • Si-based all-optical integrated circuits and systems
     

Based on the breakthrough achieved during the one and half year research development on active photonic devices and passive components, GNS scientists and engineers are now in the stage of developing several on-chip all-optical integrated circuit systems. Two of the examples are on-chip Si-based multi wavelength receivers for applications in DWDM data communication networks and digital cable TV DWDM interconnection, and on-chip Si-based high-resolution spectral analyzers that cover a variety of wavelength regions from ultraviolet to microwave.   • Low temperature crystalline TFT active displays and image scanners
     

Based on the GNS research and development of low temperature crystallized polysilicon thin films, c-Si TFT active matrix display and scanning integrated circuits are designed and developed on glasses and other flexible substrates by our scientists and engineers.
