Based on the breakthrough achieved during the year and a half of research development on active photonic devices and passive components, GNS scientists and engineers are now in the stage of developing several on-chip all-optical integrated circuit systems. Two of the examples are on-chip Si-based multi wavelength receivers for applications in DWDM data communication networks and digital cable TV DWDM interconnection, and on-chip Si-based high-resolution spectral analyzers that cover a variety of wavelength regions from the ultraviolet to microwave spectrum.
